Try it again. It's not difficult to improve your TOEFL score. Especially you are living in Canada. My major was Chemical Engineering too.I improved my TOEFL score from 230+ to 260 in five months. But I didn't do any preparation, just reading newspaper and watching TV.

Essay 3.5 is not acceptable by any standard. Reputable schools require 5.0 or up. You may need to rewrite it. My kid got 4.5 in her first exam. She rewrote it after one month and got 6.0. It's not that difficult. -oldie(OLDIE); 2002-10-25 (#817216@0)

Her English was good but didn't know the trick of TWE. After failed the first time, she did a lot writing and reviewed a lot of TWE model Essays. Good fundamental plus memorising and imitating would be the key. -oldie(OLDIE); 2002-10-25 (#817398@0)
