只有微软的主机用netbios名的才能用ping -a 解析。

I use this command on my windows 2000, it works well. I'm not sure if there is a equivalent command in UNIX. I don't think this has any business with netbios name.

first, ping -a can only resolve computer name which in wondows OS means netbios name. secend on an unix host you can't use ping -a, third, when you ping -a x.x.x.x you may replay with nothing because that machine you have pinged is a unix host which does not use samber( SMB server on unix ) or there is no samber server on that seagment. So ping -a is a useful tools but only for a MS network, and can easy to get a COMPUTER NAME but NOT DOMAIN NAME (DNS), and if you have anyproblem you can find the it in windows help, a chapter about win2000 comand.

nslookup and dig on Unix boxDo you have a Unix box you can log in? If there is DNS dameon running on this box, you may use 'nslookup' or 'dig' followed by the IP address, then you will get the domain name.
Anyway, if you need help, send the IP address to me.
