you are basically saying EBIT = EBIT - TAX, where's the logic?, plus, if you take out income from ebit, then you end up with nothing to tax on. try not to give out advice if you don't know what you are talking about.

Net Income is not EBIT, and operating income is not taxable income. They are different.

Basically, slimpiggy formula is right, though a little bit complicated. Another way to calculate it is that if you already have the Income Statement, simplely use Net Icome+Taxes+Interest payments.
