工作学习 / 学科技术讨论 / Anyone is using Oracle Application Express and knows some sophisticated websites dev-ed by it? I would like to see more real world examples before we go ahead to dev sth under its env. Looks like it is a good tool for prototyping. ?

Before I choose to use MS products, I used 3+ months to trail 3 different software vendors and decided what I should use. And I also did my research on internet about other users' feedback.I don't just look at the software itself. I studied the supports from the vendors, the developer community and end user feedback.

Using MS product has at least one problem: You have to deal with those dll version changes along with different OS upgrade. Using Java, you only need to consider Java version. ...

I am not suggesting that you should come to MS platform but instead try a few Java platforms and decide which one is better.

If you jump on one platform, it is hard and costly to switch to another platform. We are going forward to Oracle now, IBM solution is boring, and OpenOffice is a political tool to push MS speak humble.

BTW, both Java and .Net are both managed code and the applications are running on virtual machine. So .Net is the same as Java, you just used the right version and you don't care about independent dll.If your programs run on .net framework 3.5, then you don't care if your OS is Windows Server 2003; Windows Server 2008; Windows Vista; Windows XP or even Windows 7. Of couse, MS doesn't support Linux, Unix, nor Mac.

人家要的cross-platform,而不是cross-mswindows。
