The real answer is you don't need a up-converting DVD player! Any HDTV needs to up-convert standard programs to 7200/1080i/1080p. And which one will you choose to do the job, a $2000 TV or a $80 DVD player?

一看就是没做好家庭作业的。most HDTV have crappy up-converting chip. You can expect most of the up-converting dvd player do better job than your TV.$2000 is the cost for the TV, not the up-converting function.

Same thing can be said to DVD, most cost will be on drive and DVD patent fees. You can bet a $3000 HDTV will use same or better up-converting chip than a $200 up-converting DVD. Almost all branded HDTVs have its own image processing engine.

Points. 其实TV整的视频信号有时候用起来很麻烦，总得调比例找出最佳；有了up-converting，一直用16:9观看，没有强烈的变形效果。但片源质量决定一切，有些冬冬拿到我那七八年新的SDTV上观看，巨爽。
