用ROGER INTERNET (不知道固定IP 多少钱?)
WINDOW SERVER 2003(OR WINDOW SERVER 2000) & SQL SERVER 2005/OR 2000
想把这俩个SERVERS 放在一个机器里(不知道该买SERVER 或者是一般的1G/2G 内存机器?)
希望是便宜能办事的方案. 大家有什么好建议? 谢谢!!

No-ip是免费的动态DNS服务，就是用在自己搭建web服务器又不想申请专线或静态ip地址的情况。是最廉价的解决方案，$0.....不会还有minus费用的吧？^_^

They have a list of domain names to choose from. I know some of them do work, some don't. My family FTP to my machine from China to pick up pictures before.

ROGERS IP基本固定。我的好几年没见换。W2K比较稳定，系统开销也小。SQL 2000/2005都可以，不过如果没特别需要的话，2000就行，也是2005开销多一些。一般的DESKTOP 1G内存足够。 Rogers不用选太高的速度，因为当SERVER用主要要看上传（对Client是下传）速度。

很好!. 不知是买一个SERVER(WEB SERVER/SQL SERVER放一起)好? 还是买俩个一般1G PC(一个放WEB,一个放SQL)好?, 或是买一个一般1G PC(WEB SERVER/SQL SERVER放一起)?

考虑到你用Rogers的非商业接口，应该也是玩玩的，至少不可能是流量很大的商业网站，所以一个一般1G PC(WEB SERVER/SQL SERVER放一起)足够了。其实现在的机器，硬件上已经足够级别了。

我有SQL SERVER 2005 STANDARD, SQL SERVER 2000 ENTERPRISE(我将选用一个). 你的意思是2000开销小一些. 如果我的DB 将到10 G, 会有什么考虑? (比如不同版本ATTACH/DEATACH, 我只试过2000->2005. 没试过2005->2000)

那就装2005 Standard吧。装的时候用Custom安装，没用的component别装，比方Reporting Services, Analysis Servers等等。

I have the same interest. But having problem to get my home IP over internet.. in another word, I can't connect to my computer over the internet. since my ISP gives me an IP starts with 192.1.x.x , which is different than Rogers and Sympatico...

That's why I'm staying with Rogers even it sucks. So far, Rogers is the only one can provide the static IP. What is your ISP?

外部IP被MODEM占了，用管理员身份进入你的MODEM管理页面，看看有没有设置可以映射到内网机器

modem? or router? I checked the router. the ip mapping outside is 192.1.x.x
I will give it a try this long weekend...It looks like a subnet under their network.. i am not a network expert..but
I know there are some applications like "GoToMeeting", once they accept their invitation, they can connect to your desktop..so there must be a way.

cool.. i got the IP..thx.. but configuring that IP to map to my computer still a long way to go. it needs to cross ISP subnet(?) and then my router..
