工作学习 / IT技术讨论 / Solaris 安装问题请教.I wanted to replace the SuSe Linux on a Netra t1 with Solaris 9. I used remote installation. There seems no problem to setup the installation server(Ultra 30). and I can arp the Netra t1 from the Ultra 30 installation server.
When I boot the client, the system give a message
"24000 panic - boot: Could not mount filesystem"
The system halt after it.
Could anybody help. Thanks.

setup a "jumpstart" server at your install server (Ultra 30) and on the Netra1,
ok> boot net - install
If your netra1 has a CDROM, you can install it by
ok> boot cdrom

The Netra doesn't have a CDROM, that's the reason I used JumpStart for Solaris installation.I added the Nectra to hosts and ethers on the Ultra30 and ran add_install_clients correctly. the "panic" message prompt out when the
ok>. boot net
is run.
Seems that this is a rare case, I googled the message, only hit one artile and it's written in Hungarian... :-)

Linux can be installed from network. It utilize the pxe/arp protocol. . For your farther information, search internet for "PXE ARP SUSE"...

you have to "boot net - install", when system goes to multi-user mode, it will panic if you didn't install correctly on local drive.

It still won't pass through.I kind of suspect some defects on the CDROM I burn.
I'll download iso image to ultra31 local drive and try again.

The problem lies in NFS share and CDROM media.
I ended up using dvd iso image to set up the jumpstart server and manually share the install directory.
It's up now, runing forward just great...
