i donot think that is necessary. but windows updates are definitely good for security reason

it is SQL SERVER 2000, NOT OPERATING SYSTEM, when I install, I was told I have to install SP2 at least in order to cooperate with .Net.

SP3 is enough. But you have to install SP3 for desktop and for the engine. Free download from Microsoft

thanks!!! Another question: IS there a tool in SQL SERVER 2000 similar to SQL*PLUS in Oracle? and Can I run northwind as well as I run it in Access? Thks In advance
