no virus can affect that modem, esp that old oneare u using bell's access manager or use PPPoE ? PPPoE is simple and more straight forward. and it is free.
use Norton Antii-virus has no gurantee u will not get affected. by virus, think why norton virus 2004 is no sale now you would understand.
or worse, there might be a false positive for the virus it found.

Thanks to all replies. My friend has renewed his Sympetico service and is going to get a new modem. All will be fresh, it should be Okay.Or he must have been targeted by some hacker, I would ask him to change his passport and all ID documents. :-P
