POP3 is a client/server protocol in which e-mail is received and held for you by your Internet server.Periodically, you (or your client e-mail receiver) check your mail-box on the server and download any mail. It has nothing to do with receiving messages from other mail servers. That's smtp's job. u got some concept problem. a complete mail system has several components, MTA, mail storage, mail access protocols.SMTP is acting as MTA, which is in charge of delivering email to outside or local delivery. Mail storage is actually storing your email, this is where actual emails are stored. Mail access protocols could be POP3, IMAP. Depends on your configuration, each component could be using different package, usually a complete mail storage package will have pop3 and imap protocols built-in. -speed(如风); 2003-11-10 {383} (#1457907@0)
