If you come to Ontario, your health plan takes effect after 3 months of your landing. During this period, you'd better buy medical insurance for your wife.

are you sure? I think u can apply for health card immediately after your landing, and they will give you a piece of paper which contains your information for you to use in case of medical emergency, though the card will be mailed to you in 3 months.by the way, if she's worried about
cold or flu, I can say the chance will be very little if she doesn't make herself too tired:-)

Thanks zara and sailor for your concern. I'm afriad that I'm totally confused now. Can a new immigrant get free medication before getting the health card ???In fact she's some heart problem, not serious enough to prevent her from normal work and living. But you know, ladies are usually scared by themselves...
