I have the same problem. I have win98 and 2000 on my computer. When I run setup of Oracle8i in win2000, nothing happened. Can any guru help me?

是不是以前已经装过oracle在w2k? uninstall ora在w2k里也是shi*t,要手工清除register table,因为4个ora service不能自动被清除。然后重起

That's normal if you have P4. You have to update jre on the CD before you can run install. Another huge bug :-)

if P4, copy the CD to hard disk and renname the file symcjit.dll to syncjit.dll.old, then run setup from disk

AIX:你要指明要64位的版本呀，64位和32位在不同的CD上！ORACLE使用资源多，需要优化操作系统很正常呀，大型软件里很普遍呀；linux上你需要download pksh才能运行某些script。

64位的server可以，但client 不幸； solaria还算是ok,但会报许多错， 在ora站点上说just ignore; linux, 不仅仅是fixpatch的问题， 它和glibc相冲突，要在profile指定kerne了，它提供的scripts还有错！更可气，安完后sqlplus is ok, 但netasst, netca都不work, 要偶manually update tnsname file!!
这些都是安装bugs

Assuming you are installing Oracle on Solaris x86 box, you need two things1. Oracle8.1.7 for x86 which is very hard to find any site to download
2. You need at least three hard disks
3. An customized installation guide written by a gentleman named "Michael xxxx"
