i don't think it is easy for the person to learn OS390 by himself. U need environment!!

my company has mainframe. I can talk to os/390 through websphere. I just don't know where to begin. I checked IBM redbooks. There are too many. Which one is for beginners?

You can start from how to use TSO/ISPF. And then JCL. And then COBOL programming if you are a programmer. Other tools you can learn when you use them.
