some router need small. u can try ping -f -l 1500 0.0.0.0. decide ur max mtu

So if both windows' default is 1500, why would make it inaccessible on 2k but okay on 98? that was my point.

thank you .I tried ping -f -l 1000 0.0.0.0 . the website I can't visit before can be visited now,but still very slowly.I don't know what is the best MTU for my machine. I have tried 1500,5000,500,100. seemed 1000 is the best

u can try from 1500 and 1450,1400..., find the max MTU for ur computer. if MTU so small, it will very slowly.
