Oops, this probably doesn't work for Bell, it's PPPOE, not DHCP (as is used with Rogers Cable). Hmmm... but doesn't Bell Sympatico come with some GUI tools such that you can disconnect and reconnect?

Too many possibilities: 1. Your IP is assigned by your landlord's server dynamically 2. same as 1. but statically 3. Your IP is a second IP from Sympatico (seems unlikely), which is dynamic.In your case, it seems likely that your landlord's server runs DHCP daemon, you get a dynamic IP that only changes if your change your NIC (lan card).

既然由sympatico服务器端指定，你这边就不能控制了，只能寄望于关机时间长一点，服务器把你的ip分配了，你就可以换用别的ip了，这个概率与你关机的时间成非线性正比关系。

in network properties, uncheck the tcp/ip, reboot then re-check the tcp/ip.
