Trust unit is smilar to mutual fund but has much lower turnover.It means if a trust unit decides its asset allocation it won't change it for a long time. For most trust units you can't redempt your unit at the unit issuer. You have to sell it to a third party. It is like a closed end mutual fund.
Because of the tax benefits the trust units are booming. There are trust units becoming main share holder of big company.
Personally I think if you like "buy and hold" trust unit may be your choice. The downside is its relatively high commission and Illiquidity
