工作学习 / IT技术讨论 / how can I map my Ip address to my domain name?I have a static ip address got from ISP and have a domain name.
somebody told me that the only thing I need to do is to set up my own DNS server in Linux platform, after that, people around the world can
visit my web site through the domain name.
but i don't know how to do that! I will appreciate for any help!
Also, somebody told me I must pay money to get pointing service from
some provider.
I really have no idea!
can somebody help me!
Thanks again for any help!

check this web site, they support dynamic or static ip address, and support your own domain name, but i am not sure if they charge or not.

If u got a domain name only, no DNS serviceYou have to build your own DNS server. Login to your domain.ca account, modify the dns servers of your domain. Make ns.yourdomain.ca as server name, your static IP address as the server ip. Wait 48 hours for the cache refresh. Then config your own DNS server. If use Linux, config your bind (named). How to config, read BIND-HOWTO.
