M.Eng不要写毕业论文，修完课程毕业，可以不参加课题研究，不能读博士。 M.Sc要写毕业论文，一定要参加研究课题，可以读博士。

你可以在网上查查每个program对毕业的要求，应该能查到是否要论文，还是只作project.

大胖墩儿厨 is correct. Some schools or depts will be like what 小舟 said. But you can not generalize it.You have to check the program youself to figure out what you want.

research master 做课题写论文，course master 只修课。不管是 Eng --engineering, Sc -- science 吧。

国内的工学硕士也是要做论文的. 所以说,国内工科院校的硕士比较亏,亏在翻译上. 这里的master of engineer相当于国内的工程硕士,就是指修课,不做论文的那种.是给在职人员上的.

不管怎么说也要把材料都发给系里。所谓联系教授，就是跟教授陶陶瓷，如果教授愿意要你，就比较好录取呀，另外也是选一个自己比较感兴趣的研究方向。

Even for M.Sc students, not everyone is that lucky to find such a generous supervisor. Anyway, you are right in the sense that unlike M.Sc, M.Eng has no financial support.

I started as M. A. Sc. When I realized my supervisor has no research for me, I changed to M. Eng. I took 9 courses and did a project in the last term.The project is smaller than thesis, but I still wrote a fairly thick report. I don't think it is true that M.Eng. can not take Ph. D later. It depends on the professor you apply for.
