工作学习 / 求学深造 / I got phd offer from USA, but I just have been in Canada for one year as a perminent resident. Please give me some suggestion how to keep my resident status? The school is not far from border, just 1 hour 47 minutes drive, who has good way to get canadian citizenship within my phd program.

It is not easy to drive 1 hour 47 minutes one way by myself. Who has attended or will go to MSU? Can I get some suggestion from you?

my thought1. It's tough even you live in Windsor, forget about driving back and forth every day, you will waste too much energy, not to mention time and money.
2. Setup up an address in Windsor, try to spend weekends, holidays in Windsor, even pay some bills.
3. Live near MSU during semester period.
4. Get a return permit if applicable, although rules are changing.
It seems a waste you setup two places, but that's the price you pay for Canadian passport.

Even I will spend weekends and holidays in Windsor, the time is still not enough within the 183 days out limit. I don't know how to deal with the situation. Another question? Can I apply for a return permit in USA?

Consider getting a layer's advice if you are really confused.

buy a piece of Chinese newspaper, plenty. make several calls and talk to them. I am sure not too difficult for a PhD candidate to tell which one is good enough.
