对比一下Califonia vs. New York vs. Ontario Income Tax,10万gross pay, 用网上的tax calculator,CA付32,473, NY付31,642, ON付26,440. 20万gross pay, CA付72,545, ON付72,541, NY付69,063. 值得注意的是如果是New York City,还有City Income Tax, 不包括在上面.

I did some research. This was allowed after 2008 (I was in the US before then). Back then 401K is not allowed at all. When reporting Cdn return, I had to include 401K contribution as part of my income and pay tax on it. The new rule makes more sense.

But with 401k contribution, you almost lost all RRSP deduction.

AGI是什么意思?你加拿大的毛收入(美国工资一401K一自付医疗部分),有没有什么文章支持自付医疗部门可以减除,另在W2上看不到自付的医疗部分,12aDD:cost of employer sponsored health coverage

You can only claim upto 3K capital losses against ordinary income. That is equivalent to ~$500 in taxes. What you are saving is the timing/interest cost on this $500, since in CA you can recover the capital losses in future when you have capital gains.

I agree. If there is a house wife or house husband, US provides higher tax benefit. If both are working and have similar income, US you are likely pay slightly higher tax in CA and NY. If considering health care cost, could be quite a bit more.
