You do not trust anyone but your own eyes. Although you ask vendor to show you everything you shall sit in the store for a week to monitor every transaction during that week.

You can randomly pick few months in the past, and ask the vendor to bring ALL the invoices, sales records, bank statements in those months. By law, the vendor must keep all those records for at least 6 years.

You can ask the depot to give you a copy of annual report pertaining to this particular retail outlet.

You may not believe 100% ROI because you are looking for a business primarily within Toronto. Get out of Toronto. It is overcrowed. There are so many people want to get into a business. The prices have been inflated beyond reasonable. Besides, the density of business distribution has created intensive competition among competitors. It is not easy to do business here.

A more safe type business is variety store. Each has its own territory. People do not go far for small items.

    • Normally, when you buy a business, the vendor supposed to show you financial records, including all the revenues and expenses.
You have the right to varify the records. From my experience, a small business shall have minimum 100% ROI (return on investment). That is, if they ask $30,000 for the business, they must prove to you that they have made at least $30,000 per year in the past few years.
    • Small business yield high ROI because of the level of risk and intensive involvement.
If you are a starter, you might want to treat it as an experiment to help you gain business experience and accumulate assets. Try one for two years and sell it, then move on to something bigger. I would recommend you to try a business that will generate at least $50,000/ year net income.
Happy Holloween!
帮你UP!
