Why arethey suspicious? Why are they alert? Life taught them.
When a stranger accosted you, you became alert immediatedly of his/her motive. Finally you found that he was intended to recruit you for multi-level marketing, or, she wanted to tell you the truth of Jiang's suppression of FLG.
After being annoyed again and again, could you be possibly as friendly and before?
Let us turn this topic aside. My point is, lift taught us to be so.
When I arrived Toronto, I found that Canadians are always smiling and even greeting strangers. I thought I should be doing so. Do in Rome as Rome does. I started to smile to the Chinese I met. What I got, in return, was always a poker face. Being neglected (I thought so) again and again, I did not smile any more.
I do not mean they are to blame. Very likely they have had the similar experience. It is conceivable that I may have a emotionless face to the newcomers too. I was taught by life, by others, and they were taught by others, and so on.....
I believe every new immigrant feel lonely, to differenet extents, but nobody likes to make the first move. Nobody likes to initiate talking. Nobody likes to break the ice.
I decide to play the role. I tell myself to be ready to speak to any Chinese I meet. I did so, not always. That proved to be wonderful. Be a trouper! Do you job!更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
