Right now, Federal Governmenthas a project for R&D spending. I am wondering if those guys salaries are part of the project.

In general, more and more Canadians give up in voting. A lot of them go to states, studying or working. I know you came back from States. But a lot of them would not. It's a sad fact. But considering average 20k student loan, high tax and high unemployment rate of youth, it is not a bad solution to go south.

You know the birth rate in Canada is very low(1.6) comparing to states(2.8) partially because young couple is harder to establish in this country now. I bet government knows all of the problems, but they are too busy in patronizing those who donate the funding for them. They are also very dedicated to the politics. As how to make Canada better, in my eyes, it's more like a slogan for them. At least that is how Jean Chretien's governement is playing.

This liberal government is a little bit unusual because a lot of its policy is more close to conservative instead of spending big time. Another problem is corruotion of this governent. I don't find Liberal that bad. But I do want Jean Chretien step down earlier than 2004. If he step down, a new Cabinet have to be formed and we may get to see some fresh policy.

For instance, the famous Prof. Cook at CS dept of UT moved from US. The No. 1 guy in telecommunication industry Prof. Simon Haykin at McMaster moved from UK. The previous Dean of Harvard Medical School come to teach at UT too.
