哪位有识之士能对U of T的 special student of M.Eng 与 Waterloo的M.Eng选择提一点儿建设性意见?

I got the two offer: one is U of T part-time special student of graduate study in Mechanical Engineering, another is Waterloo full-time graduate study in Mechanical Engineering. Both of them should self-support. I now live near U of T,
but as a special student, I have to get A- for 2 courses.
Could you please give some suggestion?
If someone has studied as special student of graduate study in Mechanical Engineering, U of T,
could you give some information about courses, which professor can give high mark?

    • Can I ask how many years is the part time one in UT, Is it 6 years? -pyramid(金字塔); 2002-7-31 (#666920@0)
    • I cannot see any big difference between the degrees of M Eng in UofT and Waterloo. But if you plan to get it from UofT, a larger sum of money has to pay, and you have to meet the prerequisites of two courses. -flyingdust(FlyingDust); 2002-7-31 {351} (#667567@0)
      Also a longer period is required compared with that in Waterloo. In UofT the Annual Academic Fee is around CAN$7000 for M. Eng., and about CAD$4000 in Waterloo. And you cannot apply for Student Loan as Special Student, but if you are full time student for M Eng., you can.
      If you are not living with your child, I strongly suggest you go to Waterloo.

      I got the same offer from U F T five months ago, I defer the offer until September.(Now I get anothe offer from U of Calagary) I don't think the special student in Meng is a good offer. Beacuse It has many uncertainties which will lead you to real dilemma. If you can't get A- in two courses(one of my friend really didn't get A-), you will fail and need to re-apply again. Not only you will waste you time and money, but also you will have little chance get another offer from U f T agaiin. Forget about it, take the offer of Waterloo!
