You can not get read-confirmation without the recepient's relealizing it. When I received this kind of email and it pops up to ask me if I want to send out confirmation, I feel it's annoying and I always choose NO.

if you see the prompt, it means that email is important to the sender and s/he wants to make sure you get it and read it. Why don't you just let the sender know that you read it? Think for others...

It's better explicitly ask for reply and I will reply to it with more information instead of simply a confirmation that I have read it.

In many situations, the senders just want to make sure you read the information. They may not need your reply.

In other situations, the senders understand that you may not be able to reply the email immediately, but they need to ensure that the email actually get to you.
btw, I have the sense about the importance/severity of emails.

I set the filter to automatically move the confirmations to Trash. Will only check it when need it. ;-)

He doesn't have to care. If the other guy missed some important emails because that guy automatically forwarded the emails to trash can, it's that guy's responsiblity, not bdbs' responsibility.

Tell you the fact in our company. Most people from offices located in continents do not set read-confirmation. Only several people from India set that way. I personally do not like it. I am not sure if other people like it.

i was buying something from internet and in the transaction. but it looked the seller disappeared after he received my money order. he didn't reply my email and i don't have his phone number.
so i wanted to know if he really read my email or not?
