Alpine ski and Nordic Ski are totally different.

Alpine skiing contains 4 racing events:
- Slalom
- GS (Giant Slalom)
- Super G (Super GS)
- and Down Hill

Each type of skiing uses specified skis (ex. Slalom skis, GS skis, ... Down hill skis). The Slalom has the smallest turn and slowest speed, and Down Hill has the biggest turn and highest speed. The first two are called technical events, and the last two are called speed event.

Most average people play in alpine ski (ex. playing at Blue Mountain). They are just recreational ski, but not any of the four racing type.

Nordic skiing refers to Cross-country ski and ski jumping.
