I went through
1. configuration manager-->config directory server-->validated-->applied.
2. Cognos Server administrator-->security-->directory server--> add connection-->tested first tab--->tested second tab-->tested the third tab
goes fine

"Error
The object of type (System) cannot be found.
Page generation error while preparing a page based on template: errorpage.utml."

The following is where I find the problem:
configuration manager-->upfront-->start

In results window:
1.Failed activation of Data Store
2.Failed activation of Server
3.Unable to determine error that occurred trying to run command upfunpack.bat -x UpfUnpackError.log

question for you:

1. In configuration manager, did yoy point to your directory server at location \services\access manager - directory server\general, to give out computer name, port number, DN, and namespace name, usr/pwd?
2. Did you start all service afteryour configuration applied ? ( in configuration manager, select the root (computer name), click the green arrow button.
