It is 1800 in Netherlands, 2400 in Beijing, China. But I believe nobody in Beijing will sleep tonight.
Beijing surely is a sleepless city today.
This afternoon, when Samarach said " The games of the 29th Olympiad in 2008 are awarded to the city of Beijing", we cheered for Beijing~{!/~}s win, seeing fireworks exploded overhead, firecrackers underfoot and thousands of red flags waved in Tian an men square. We keep the TV on from that moment and find gladly that CNN has become CCTV this afternoon and this evening. All headline news, all discussions are about Beijing, about our win and celebration in Beijing. Such things never happened before. They never pay so much attention to China. Although their reports still base on their situation, having their hard prejudice, they have to admit we win! And above all, the world starts to talk about Beijing, try to know more about China.
To be honest, I didn~{!/~}t care about the bid of Olympic 2008 before. In my opinion, it is only for sport. But today CNN gave me a lesson. They don~{!/~}t like us so much, the world knew us so little that this international victory is very important for Chinese. It will be a chance for Beijing as well as a chance for western country to understand more about China.
" I am proud of my country, I~{!/~}m proud of my people", this sentence spoken by He Zhen liang has been repeated several times today on CNN. It ~{!.~}s also what I want to say now.
I knew Beijing still has a long way to go to make everything done. USA is doing their best to convince people Beijing is a bad choice made by IOC. But I trust our Chinese can do what we want to do and what we had promised. Beijing will be a beautiful and international city definitely!
Through TV, We saw traditional lion and dragon dancers were weaving their way through police and revelers, and endless streams of Beijing's 13 million residents were pouring towards the city center from every direction on foot, in cars and on bicycles.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
