Hello All,
I'm sure you all have been deeply concerned about the economic and
morale blow to the Chinese community inflicted upon by the SARS
outbreak and wish you could do something to help.
Now here is a chance we can all do our bit.
We have been urged by the community to play a leading role in
speaking out and taking actions. After consulting with a number of
people on the Board, we have decided to do two things, together with
all other mainland-background groups.
Our actions have to be completed tomorrow to catch the deadline of
the weekly newspapers. So I'm urgently calling upon each and everyone
of you to respond in action.
1. We are drafting a letter to the community on behalf of all groups,
asserting that a) Toronto is safe; b) we ought to help our own
community by going out to eat, shop and entertain, while keeping good
hygiene practice. Chinese businesses depend on Chinese. While all
levels of government have acted, we ourselves have a duty to do more.
2. We must take action to validate ours words. I have arranged for
people from all groups to have a hot pot dinner in a Chinese
restaurant in the hard hit Scarborough area.
TIME: 7 p.m.
LOCATION: Hot Pot City (huo guo cheng)
3280 Midland Ave., North of Finch
Cost: $10 per person inclusive (This is less than half
of the normal price, which is $16.95 plus taxes and
tips).
I'd like to ask all of you to bring your family and friends to come
for this excellent dinner and show of solidarity. It would look awful
if we don't have a strong showing.
Please call the office to reserve your seats by noon tomorrow,
Wednesday.
Thank you all.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
